Help Anna’s Farming Family Raise Eldercare Funds

My name is Ellie (Perez.) Anna is a dear friend and I wanted to put out this call for help for her:

I met Anna in Woodstock NY, many years ago. During their tenure in Woodstock, Anna, James (Anna’s son) and Ken, Anna’s partner worked hard to share their time and talents with the Woodstock Community. They have been an integral fiber of the social, artistic, intellectual and ecological network that makes Woodstock the special place that it is.

As a single mom, activist and permaculture farmer, I know that I wouldn’t be where I am without having Anna as a friend- there are countless other folks who feel the same way. Now I am asking this wonderful, wider online community to come together and help Anna and her family by sharing our resources. Help support Anna and her family while they care for their elder.

As some of you may know, for the last two years, Anna, Ken and James have been the sole caregivers for Anna’s 81 year old mom, Jo. Ever since Jo had a stroke she needs care 24/7. In addition to needing round the clock care, Jo’s health is frail in many ways that make it imperative that she be protected from getting Covid.

Recently their only vehicle required $4,000 to repair. Unfortunately the repair costs totally depleted the small savings the family had, as well as much of their fixed monthly resources which just meet their essential bills. Jo is wheelchair bound and depends on the family car to get to all her medical appointments. Jo’s weekly physical therapy sessions are not only paramount for her well-being, but she also really enjoys them.

I’m asking Anna’s friends and supporters- those who feel they are able to give (no amount is too small!) to donate to this fund. Help us to reach the $4000 goal for Anna’s family vehicle repairs.

Anna, Ken, James and Jo are doing everything they can to keep Jo home and and at the same time not lose everything they have worked hard to build. They have no other family members that can help.
