My name is Sierra, and I’m a single mother living in Columbus, Ohio. I care for my daughter Emerí (2) and my niece Jordan (3), whom I’ve raised since she was just six weeks old. I became Jordan’s kinship provider four years ago, stepping in when her parents could not. Since leaving an abusive relationship three years ago, I’ve been the sole provider for my family, without support from Jordan’s parents or my former partner.

Until recently, I worked as a social worker, but I had to leave my job because I couldn’t afford childcare. I’ve been driving for Uber and searching for a job that will allow me to qualify for childcare assistance, but right now, I’m struggling to cover our most basic needs. My goal is to provide Emerí and Jordan with shelter, food, safety, and love. We also need two twin-sized beds and essentials like socks, shoes, and undershirts for the girls.
