We are reaching out with full hearts to ask for your help in supporting Kathie Sims and her daughter, Sierra — a bright, talented young woman who has been courageously battling severe mental illness for several years.
Up until the age of 18, Sierra was a straight-A student and a Division I college athlete, full of promise and potential. But after enduring multiple personal traumas, Sierra’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The vibrant, driven girl she once was has been replaced by someone who now struggles daily just to cope — both mentally and physically.
Her mother Kathie, a devoted single mom, has never stopped fighting for her daughter’s recovery. She’s worked tirelessly to provide care, research treatments, and pursue every possible avenue to bring Sierra back to a place of stability and hope. But the journey has not been easy. Multiple medications have taken a toll not only on Sierra’s mental state but have also caused lasting damage to her physical health — requiring even more complex and costly medical support.
Right now, Sierra is in a psychiatric hospital. But there is hope.
Kathie has found a life-changing opportunity at Hopewell, a therapeutic farm community in Ohio dedicated to helping people with serious mental illness rediscover their strength and rebuild their lives. This peaceful, structured environment would give Sierra the care, therapy, and holistic support she needs — something she’s never fully had access to before.
But to be accepted into the program, Kathie must raise $18,800 for the first four months of treatment — the minimum time required. Time is critical, as the goal is to transfer Sierra directly from the hospital to Hopewell without delay.
We humbly ask for your support. Whether through a donation, a share, or simply keeping Sierra in your thoughts and prayers — every bit helps. Together, we can give Sierra the chance to heal and help Kathie continue being the incredible advocate and mother she is.
For donations $250 or greater, you will receive a Limited Edition PeopleGottaLOVE Zip Up Lightweight Hoodie (Zip Up featured in last photo).
Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity and support.
