Hello fams! I am kindly asking you to hear a story of a good friend.

Two days ago, a massive fire broke out in Surigao City, Phillipines destroying around 130 homes — the biggest fire in the city’s history. One of the families affected is that of Sheryllou Maceren, a mother of two, a devoted teacher, and someone who has been very close to my heart.

Sheryllou isn’t just a former colleague — she has been like a second mother to me. When I worked with her on a small island in Surigao, she welcomed me as if I were family. She opened her home, fed me, supported me in every way, and made that tiny island feel like my second home. She is warm, selfless, and genuinely one of the kindest people I’ve ever met.

Today, she and her family have lost everything. Their home was among the 130 houses burned down in the 6-hour blaze. They have nothing left to save and are now temporarily staying with her parents while trying to figure out how to start again — and with Christmas fast approaching, the weight of this loss feels even heavier.

I am here in Australia and unable to offer immediate physical help, but I am doing what I can: reaching out to anyone willing to extend support. If you can spare any amount to help Sheryllou and her family get back on their feet, it would mean the world. Every little bit counts.
