Sharon (Sherry) Breski is my 81-year-old mother, and she’s facing a difficult chapter in her life. After the recent loss of her husband, Sherry’s world has been turned upside down. She now lives on a fixed income, which isn’t enough to cover her day-to-day living expenses. Her mobile home, built in 1977, needs repairs before it can be sold, and she’s struggling to pay for the rental space and her bills. Living in Exeter, California—a rural community four hours from me in Sacramento—she has no family or close friends nearby, and very limited access to social services. I’m working to get her on waiting lists for affordable senior housing, but there’s nothing available right now. We hope to sell her mobile home, but that process will take time, and in the meantime, she needs help to cover her living expenses and make necessary repairs. Our ultimate goal is to relocate her to Sacramento, where I can be of better assistance and help her find a secure place to live out the rest of her days. My mom is a woman of faith, believing that the Lord will provide a way, but she doesn’t know how or what to do in the interim. That’s where I come in. Although I don’t have the funds to rescue her, I have a voice, and I’m using it to draw attention to her plight. She’s the only mother I have, and I feel compelled to honor, protect, and provide for her in any way I can. There are very few social services available to her in her rural community. I love my mother dearly and am praying and trusting that those who believe in honoring their elders will come alongside and partner with me in this endeavor. Every dollar given is a blessing from God and will be received in the spirit of thankfulness and praise. God is a mighty God, and yet He delights in using His children to bless and care for one another. I’m simply asking for a miracle and the favor of God and man on my mom.
