Hi! My name is Shawnta' Martinez, and I'm reaching out from Northern Indiana, with a heart full of hope. At 47 years old, I've lived a vibrant life filled with joy and activity, despite being born with Down Syndrome. This past year, however, has brought challenges I never expected. In July 2025, I received an official diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, a condition that has made each day more difficult. My wonderful mom and caregivers have stepped in to help me navigate these changes, bringing their unwavering support and love to my life.

To combat the feelings of isolation and sadness that accompany this journey, my mom and best friend came up with an idea—this GoFundMe page. Our hope is to raise funds that will allow me to experience some of the things I've always dreamed of doing. My number one wish is to take a road trip to Disneyland and visit my family along the way, stopping in Tennessee and Texas to spend precious time with my dad and many cousins. As the disease progresses, my memory will worsen, and this will allow me to create a book of photos that I can keep and look back on of all the precious moments with my family.
