Hello,
My name is Sharon and I'm a retired parapro on disability. I have a fixed income. Recently, my cat Tweety's eye started to swell and become discolored. My vet tried to treat it with eyedrops, hoping it didn't need to be removed.
The eyedrops didn't work, and the pressure continued to build. She needed her eye taken out. The bill was going to be around $3500.
Tweety is my constant companion, as I am mostly housebound. She is a sweetheart and is very affectionate, comforts me, and keeps me from being lonely.
My wonderful vet was kind enough to waive several charges and put me on a payment plan, bringing the bill down to $2174. Through local fundraising, we were able to raise enough to get the bill down to $959. I have until February to pay the bill off; however, I just don't have that much left over at the end of each month.
I am asking for help with the balance of her bill and her follow-up appointment, so that I can pay rent, utilities, insurance, and for food. My Medicaid and food stamps were terminated and reduced. I am so grateful my vet did the surgery without the full payment. I am struggling to find ways to pay it with my limited ability and resources.
Her eye turned out to have melanoma that was self-contained, and her prognosis is good. She is recovering well. Losing her would've been devastating.
Thank you for your consideration, any amount would be greatly appreciated.
