Hi, my name is Shaquita, and I’m a proud mother of four amazing boys—ages 5, 7, 8, and 12. My eldest has autism and ADHD, and like any mother, all I want is a safe and stable home for my children. Our journey has been incredibly tough. On November 29, 2023, a devastating house fire forced us out of the home where my kids felt safe and free. Since then, we’ve faced hardship after hardship—moving into public housing, struggling with unfair treatment, and ultimately receiving notice to vacate with nowhere to go. For weeks, my boys and I slept in our car or in hotels when we could afford them. On February 19, 2025, we finally found temporary shelter, but time is running out—we must leave by May 19th. The good news? I’ve been approved for an apartment! The only thing standing between us and a fresh start is the move-in deposit. To make things even harder, when we were forced to leave our last home, we had nowhere to take our belongings—so we lost everything. Beds, couches, kitchen essentials—everything is gone. We are truly starting from scratch. I am working hard, and I can cover rent and bills once we’re in, but I need your help to secure this home and rebuild our lives.
