Hi I’m Madeline, a big sister watching a sudden stressful life change happen to my sister and her family. My heart hurts and I feel driven to do whatever I can to help.

Unfortunately due to state funding cuts, Shandy’s program at CEDARS is being cut. This was a completely unforeseen curve ball, her whole team and higher ups are trying to navigate what this all means. For Shandy and her district, though, it comes down to they are being laid off with a last day of employment of August 31. Now this is a huge event to process in many ways, but the biggest anxiety of it all is she is 8 months pregnant. She is due by September 17th, had everything planned out for maternity leave and now she will no longer have employment and insurance. We are doing everything we can to prepare for this, getting applied for assistance programs and everything. The anxiety of this all is a lot though, she will be postpartum, recovering from c-section, and starting life with that sweet little babe. Not to mention big sister Chevelle will be starting Kindergarten in the midst of all of this!

So I am calling on the village. She has always been there for me and has done so much trying to do what she can. I want to do what I can to give back and support her and her family through this time. To ease some stress and reassure that they can confidently get through this and get to enjoy these new things with the girls.
