Hi, my name is Shaina and I never thought I’d be doing this today- or ever, but we are really in need at this time. On Wednesday 12/17 around 620am, myself and my 3 kids (Jaena 15, Dayton 9, Luke 3) were in a bad car accident. I was NOT speeding or driving reckless. We were side swiped and it turned into a 5 car accident in which our van flipped over at least once.

FORTUNATELY- Luke had no injuries besides minor bruising from the belts in his car seat. Dayton has a fractured wrist and ankle. Jaena has trauma to her face and needed stitches, as well as a fractured cheek and hurt knee.

My injuries are a lot worse. I had internal bleeding. My abdominal wall had trauma, damage to my intestines and bowels. This required removal/reattachment with major surgery. On top of that- 2 black eyes, fractured nose, lost my front tooth, cut lips inside and out, fractured ankle, fractured back.

ALL IN ALL- WE ARE ALIVE. That is the most important and I cannot thank God enough for that. There are a lot of people to thank including the woman who stopped and helped while I lost consciousness after the accident and was somehow outside of my car.. my parents, our family, friends, to the emts, doctors, nurses, etc. We are so incredibly grateful. The visits, calls, texts meant so much to us.

While we know times are so tough for so many, we have created this to help with bills. THE PERSON AT FAULT FOR THIS DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE. Our medical bills for Jaena and Dayton will be pretty high because their insurance lapsed, and our car insurance isn’t covering the full amount. I will be out of work for at least 12 weeks so my income will be cut almost in half. We have a long road of recovery and healing to do and are hoping to not have to add the stress of these bills to all of this. My husband has another week off and will have to go back to work so we will have to rely on rides, sitters, etc while he isn’t here. He wasn’t in the accident, was rushed home from Kauai where he was working and had to see what happened due to this persons negligence.
