This has left the ZTA in a precarious position, struggling to maintain programs and support its athletes.

Despite these challenges, Lighton Musonda, the newly appointed President of the ZTA since July 2023, holds a grand vision for tennis in Zambia. He is determined to elevate the sport, produce internationally competitive players, and use tennis as a tool for social change and community development.

To achieve these goals, the ZTA plans to:

Hire Skilled Personnel: Employ dedicated administrators and coaches to provide quality training and mentorship.

Enhance Infrastructure: Review and refurbish existing tennis facilities, and build new ones, especially in underprivileged rural areas.

Integrate Education: Combine tennis training with educational programs, focusing on communities with limited access to resources, including villages with no electricity or water.

Address Social Issues: Use tennis and education as tools to protect children from abuse, substance addiction, and other societal challenges.

Empower Young Girls: Elevate the living standards of young girls, providing them with opportunities and support to avoid exploitation.
