I’m writing this on behalf of a dear friend and her young baby girl. They have been struggling after years of trauma and abuse, as well as a long and exhausting legal battle for safety and stability. If you know her, you know this: she is incredibly kind, gives without ever keeping score, loves without holding back, and carries more than most people ever see.

When her child was still an infant, less than a year old, their lives were turned upside down by a horrific domestic violence incident involving the child’s father, whose actions were fueled by meth use. In the aftermath, she was forced to flee for her safety, leaving what had been their home for years. Mom and child were left with almost nothing as most of their belongings were thrown out by her former partner, and her life was completely upended overnight.

From that moment on, she has done everything in her power to protect her child and herself. She pursued a restraining order and entered into a custody battle to ensure her child could grow up in a safe and calm environment. The court ultimately found the father guilty of his actions and determined that he is unfit to be around the child without third-party supervision.

The struggle has not ended because, over the years, the father has continued to demonstrate the same harmful patterns. He has refused to take any accountability. Additionally, he has continued to create false narratives and has repeatedly attempted to manipulate the custody agreement to pull her back into court. Each time, these claims have been dismissed by a judge. Nevertheless, the emotional and financial toll of defending herself and her child continues to grow. Until a more permanent and solidified legal agreement is in place, this cycle of harassment can and possibly will continue. Each time this man reaches out, it forces her to relive trauma and spend resources simply to maintain the safety that was already recognized as necessary.

I cannot fully put into words how devoted and loving she is as a mother. She is truly one of the sweetest souls you could ever meet. She does so much for her community, and I'm sure everyone who meets her is touched by her warmth and generosity.

She has never stopped fighting for her child’s well-being. She has continued to stand strong, doing everything in her power to give her child a life that is secure and filled with love.

The legal expenses continue to mount, and the fight for lasting stability is, unfortunately, not over. Any help here will go directly toward protecting her child’s future and finally securing the peace and safety they both truly deserve.
