Securing Luka's Future in Memory of Keith Isaac Miller III

The last text Keith sent to Kulia regarding his son Luka was "we will all be ok" and then after his death he came in a dream saying "I could do more for you up here, then I could down there"

Psalm 91:11-12. “For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won't even hurt your foot on a stone.” God has commanded angels to guard you.

My name is Katey Burdick, I am Lovey (Grandma) to our dear sweet Luka and the mom of Kulialani Ferreira. On April 11th, 2024 Luka unexpectedly lost his dad Keith Isaac Miller III. In the midst of this heartbreaking and bewildering loss; the immense amount of love, prayers and acts of kindness extended to Luka and his mom have been sincerely appreciated. As the vast emotions of grief ebb and flow, there also comes waves of very sobering thoughts about Lukas life and future moving forward. Keith was a college student and athlete at the time of his passing and was just a month away from graduating with his Bachelors degree. He was set to begin a career after college and help provide for the life he always talked about wanting for Luka. Sadly the new abrupt reality is that Kulia is now left to navigate the life they always wanted for Luka without him. As much as I know what an amazing mother and provider she has already been; it worries me to no end thinking of the sole financial burden she is now left to bear. We have confirmed that Luka is unfortunately not entitled to any death benefits including Social Security survivor benefits. As Kulia's mother my role in life has always been to support her in anyway I possibly can; especially in times where I know she was struggling but too proud to ask for help. I know our family and Keith's family will of course continue to do everything we can to support them; however in the wake of this loss (and as hard as it is for me to ask for help too) I humbly and gratefully welcome any additional support for Luka's journey through life. All contributions to Luka will go directly into a combination of long term custodial CDs, a 529 college savings plan and an account for a revocable trust.
