Help Secure Kathy's Home!

Update 1.2.23: Habitat for Humanity’s eviction warrant was carried out on Monday 12/19, right before a huge cold snap and Christmas. They have found temporary shelter but we are still fundraising for them as they look for a longterm home. If you think Habitat’s actions were appalling, like we do, please send an email to [email redacted] or call (877) [phone redacted], and tell them that the Tompkins County Habitat for Humanity affiliate unfairly took Kathy’s house and needs to give it back.

BREAKING 12.1.22: Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland County is moving to evict on Dec. 9th unless funds are raised to "buy back" Kathy's home.

Several months ago, Kathy and her family faced an imminent eviction sought by Habitat for Humanity of Tompkins and Cortland Counties, stopped only by direct community intervention. Once the evidence was discovered that the property was not correctly foreclosed on, volunteers found a lawyer to win back the deed. However, Habitat is now moving to complete the eviction based on the city's foreclosure notices to incorrect addresses- which is technically legal.

Securing enough money to offer Habitat for Humanity is now the only way to secure Kathy's home of 38 years after she was unable to complete payments during the pandemic. Habitat is moving fast, and we need funds ASAP! Please donate and share!
