Harlen came into my life as a foster placement when he was just 18 months old, and he’s now a thriving, joyful six-year-old boy. For nearly his whole life, I’ve been his mommy—his constant—and he’s been surrounded by a loving network of family and friends. His biological mother was never part of his life, even before I got him. During his CPS case, she struggled with substance abuse and did not engage in visits or services until the very end of the case. Because of that, I was never given the opportunity to adopt him, despite being told throughout the process that I would.
Now, after years of absence, she is pursuing custody and increased visitation. It is very hard for me to ask for help, and I am humbling myself out of necessity. I see no other option but to raise money to protect Harlen’s future. We need your help to retain legal representation to fight for what’s in his best interest—stability, safety, and the only home he’s ever known.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with us.
