Help Scotty Rebuild His Life and Reunite with His Son
Donation protected
Hello family, friends, and kindhearted strangers,
I'm reaching out on behalf of my younger brother, Scotty, who is trying to reunite with his 9-year-old son, Harvey, and rebuild his life after unexpected life-threatening health issues caused him to lose everything. For those of you who don't know Scott Vega, allow me to share a snippet of his story.
Scott is a resilient, hardworking man who once owned a successful business in Seattle. However, in 2020, his life took a drastic turn when he encountered severe health issues.
In 2020, Scott contracted long-haul COVID-19, leading to complications that resulted in a stroke, respiratory failure, and severe lung damage. Subsequently, he was diagnosed with early onset dementia, diabetic ketoacidosis, and chronic fatigue syndrome. These health issues caused him to lose his company, his residence, and his truck. Unable to care for himself, Scott was forced to relocate to San Diego to live with family, leaving Harvey behind in Seattle with his mother.
Over the past four years, Scotty has worked incredibly hard to overcome the craziest of circumstances: He faced homelessness when he was wrongfully evicted during the eviction moratorium after a hospital stay. He’s woken up in ambulances, seen 81 doctors in 3 years, and at one point had lost over 100 pounds.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Scott has fought tirelessly to regain his health. Thanks to the support of friends and family, he has made great progress. For those of you who know Scotty, you know that asking for help is not easy for him. But he is determined to return to Seattle to be near his awesome son, Harvey, and start anew. Moving back comes with its own set of financial challenges. He needs help with the costs of relocating, including the interstate rental of a moving truck, short-term living expenses, and buying a vehicle to get around while searching for a job.
I know some of you have already pitched in and helped, such as taking him in on your couch for a while, or buying meals, or more. THANK YOU. His siblings and I have also invested time and financial resources in his recovery—not just because he's our brother, but because we believe in him and what he still has to accomplish. He has worked alongside notable chefs in restaurant kitchens throughout San Diego, honing his skills and nurturing his passion for the culinary arts. His dream is to own a food truck and teach others about the science of food.
Please help us support Scotty. We can't wait to see him reunited with Harvey and thriving again. Every donation, no matter the size, brings him one step closer to rebuilding his life and achieving his dreams.
Thank you for your generosity and support.
