Help Scott’s new life after 10 years in prison
Donation protected
I’m raising funds to help my friend Scott have a fresh start when he re-enters our community in November 2024!
We first met in 2022 through the Prisoner Correspondence Project pen pal program, where even through his letters I could tell he was a warm, open-minded, positive person. We’ve become great friends, chatting every week over email and video calls about movies, books, and our lives inside and out.
After a baffling 10-year sentence for a drug violation, Scott will be released from prison in November. Understandably, money is a huge concern for prisoners re-entering the community. I’d love for Scott to have some financial relief so he can feel happiness and excitement about this new chapter!
Please share widely with your networks, any kind of support is greatly appreciated - thanks so much in advance!

Here’s a note from Scott and more on how your funds will help:
“My time in here has been difficult, but I have tried to spend it gathering all the tools and resources that I can for when I am released. I have prepared myself mentally, academically, and professionally in all the ways that I can. I work as a tutor, graduated with my BA degree in Communications & Sociology, and am exploring different career and continuing education options once I’m out.
The one thing that I am not able to do on my own is prepare myself financially for all the things I will need when I am out. I only make $0.45/hour in prison, and everything is overpriced: food, clothes, toothpaste - even sending one email, watching one episode of TV, or buying one song on my tablet costs money. A new pair of shoes would cost me one month’s salary, and only if I didn’t buy any food or personal hygiene items.
I have seen people come and go from in here and they all say the biggest hurdle is getting out with no means to support themselves and no safety net if things do not go exactly as planned. I am hoping that with help I can start my new life on a positive note, and these are some of my immediate financial concerns that I’d love any help with.”
