On October 16th, I had an accident involving a deer and that same car. At night, rounding a curve, a deer was in the middle of the road while an oncoming vehicle was approaching. It decided to dash across my lane at the last moment, sending me to swerve off the road. It collided with my driver's side anyway, and I buried the car into a lot of brush. There were no trees, rocks or ditches, but the damage was enough to total the car. I had insurance and they are reimbursing the value of the car, but because it was a lease, that reimbursement is going mostly or entirely to the dealership. The reimbursement is $38,492.70 USD. The lease buyout is $42,753 USD. I don't expect to see any money from the reimbursement. But I still need a car.

I am in the middle of transitioning from one job (part-time, ended now) to a full-time fast food position 20 minutes away from home by car. There is no bus service that runs along these towns. One way or another, I need a car to keep this job. I'm looking for something used, but still electric. I won't be trying to get an SUV this time.

I've set the goal at $5,000 USD, but any amount I can reach for a down payment will lower the monthly cost.
