Help “Scare Away Hunger” with this Historic Event
Donation protected
Monster Martin’s House of Terror has been scaring away hunger for 21 years.
In 2001, Jon Martin created Monster Martin’s as a small haunt in smalltown Pitman, NJ. For two months local volunteers built the space with movable walls and billboard tarps, and then “acted” in it for seven straight nights in October. Each year, a new plot, new costumes, a new layout and a determined cast of adults, teens and families scared and delighted eager visitors for the price of one can of food per person. As word of the fun spread people drove from hours away to see the awesome and improbable spectacle built into a suburban backyard. By the 20th year Monster Martin’s was collecting 5,000 cans of food and another $3,000 in cash to fill local food pantries right before the winter Holiday season.
Monster Martin’s has moved to New Bern, NC and this year has a chance to expand. The new location will be the Craven County Jaycee’s Fairgrounds, a bigger, scarier venue that can accommodate more visitors and generate more food. While much of the material used to create the old haunt has been hauled to New Bern already, new materials and manpower are needed to fill and build this new space.
With your help Jon is excited to fulfill his dream, turning Monster Martin’s into a professional haunt, better than ever before and capable of feeding many more families at a crucial time of year. The new entry system will be $10 and 1 can of food. All food, any donations, and a large % of the proceeds will go to Religious Community Services (RCS) in New Bern.
100% of all donations from this GoFundMe will be used for building materials and expenses (like insurance and advertising) to develop this new haunt venture!!
Be a part of this history making event from a small porch in 2001 to a professional setting in 2022 and beyond. We are so excited to be able to help the community on this type of grand scale.
This will be our largest giving year and you can be apart of that!!! Any amount will help. Thank you in advance.
