Save Warwick: Multiple Life-Saving Heart Procedures Needed

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,
We are reaching out with heavy hearts and desperate hope for our beloved son, Warwick. At just 16 months old, Warwick is bravely fighting for his life against a rare and life-threatening heart condition: Severe Pulmonary Branch Stenosis, affecting both his arteries and veins. This means the vital passages to and from his heart are dangerously narrowed, forcing his heart to work under immense and unsustainable pressure. Without a successful intervention, Warwick’s prognosis is devastating; his medical team has told us he has “months, up to a year at most,” and at any moment, he could go into cardiac failure. This is our terrifying reality, and we are fighting every single day to save our son.

Our Family’s Story
We are Warwick’s family: his moms, Amanda (Amy) and Bekayla, and his big sister Stirling, who is three. After we married, we endured a long and costly IVF journey, and were blessed with our two beautiful children. From the very start, we have poured all our energy, love, and resources into building a safe and loving home for them.

We are not perfect, but every day we strive to give our kids the very best of ourselves: our love, our support, our understanding, and our guidance. Now, faced with Warwick’s critical illness, we will stop at nothing to protect our children and fight for Warwick’s life. If it takes every dollar we have, we will spend it to save him.

We are pleading with anyone touched by our story to help in any way you can. We believe in the power of community. Together, we can give Warwick a fighting chance.

Our Journey So Far
On June 12th, 2025, we met with Warwick’s cardiologist in Victoria, BC, and learned that his right ventricle was severely enlarged due to a narrowing of his pulmonary arteries. He was urgently referred for a CT scan at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

On July 14th, Warwick underwent the scan under anesthesia, and a week later, we received the news that changed everything: Severe Branch Pulmonary Artery Stenosis. He needed a balloon angioplasty immediately to try to open the vessels and relieve the pressure on his heart. We were warned that if this procedure failed, Warwick’s survival would not be possible.

On August 25th, Warwick endured a grueling six-hour angioplasty at BC Children’s Hospital. Despite the medical team’s best efforts, the procedure was unsuccessful. During the operation, doctors also discovered he has vein stenosis. The BC team’s only option is to attempt the same procedure again in six months, if Warwick is still strong enough. With so little time, and the constant threat of sudden cardiac failure, waiting is not an option. Every single day matters, and while we are grateful for his medical team’s efforts, we must push forward for other solutions.

Why We Need Specialized Treatment
Refusing to accept a “wait and see” approach, we have sought second and third opinions from Toronto Children’s Hospital and Dr. Darren Berman at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Dr. Berman is pioneering a life-saving technology called the Renata Minima Stent. Unlike anything currently available in Canada, this stent can be placed in infants and expanded as they grow, offering Warwick his best chance at a longer, healthier life.

We've been told this procedure is not available in Canada and is performed only at select hospitals in the U.S. We are pursuing every possible avenue for Warwick to receive this care in Canada, but if that is not possible, we will do everything in our power to get him to Los Angeles.

The Cost
Both Bekayla and I have dedicated our professional lives to supporting others through mental health advocacy and counselling. We run a counselling agency, but have stepped away from our roles to focus entirely on Warwick’s care. While we await final medical opinions from Toronto and Los Angeles, we are preparing for the immense costs of time off work, travel, and specialized treatment. We originally estimated the procedure at $100,000 USD, but as of September 9th, we’ve learned the true cost is closer to $2.5 million USD. This includes hospital and facility fees, surgical and anesthesia costs, and the complex care Warwick will need before, during, and after the intervention. We are exploring every resource, including, American health insurance, Canadian Government support, media outreach, and our own resources. If Warwick is not a candidate for this surgery and another option is offered, every dollar raised will go toward his end of life care.

Our Faith in Community
While we are not tied to one religion, we believe deeply in the power of community and in a loving God who works through others. Like the parable of the drowning man, we know that help often comes through the hands and hearts of those around us.

We hope that everyone reading this feels moved to help, whether through a donation, sharing our story, or offering prayers and encouragement.
