Help Save Tom Litkea's Farm

Donation protected

While doing an issue ad on the plight of the small farmers this fall, we found Tom Litkea from New Lisbon, WI.

Tom’s family has been milking cows on the same farm since 1942.  Their farm allowed them all to make a good living until recently.

Tom says “42 cows built this farm and now 42 cows can’t buy me food.”

Tom is in serious debt and is basically “milking for the banks” - pretty much all of the money he makes milking goes to pay off his loans, often leaving nothing to live on. “My kids have bought me groceries so I could continue to farm,” Tom says.

Tom  represents the trend in America of large corporate farms squeezing out smaller producers. These small and middle sized producers are essential for the health of our economy and the health of our food supply.  Did you know that 638 dairy farms went out of business in 2018 in Wisconsin? That’s almost 2 a day.

After spending a few days with Tom, we decided that we wanted to reach out and try and help him out of his endless cycle of being under water to the banks.

Your contribution will bring some relief to this small dairy farmer’s plight.

Please give what you can to help Tom and his family have happier holidays this year.  Together we can help save Tom’s farm.
