Save this family’s home from undermined foundation

Hi, my name is John, and I’m fundraising for Rebecca and Jeff’s young family. They purchased their first home and less than a year in, found significant structural issues not reported in disclosures, nor found by inspection.

The first major rain after they moved in left their basement flooded. They traced the water intrusion and found many issues. Their home insurance refused to cover anything.

Contractors inspected it and discovered the foundations on one end of the house had supporting soil washed away. The foundations are sinking. They further found that a basement wall, also compromised by water, is leaning.

The root cause was determined to be improper grading and lack of proper drainage. It appears to have had multiple flooding events before their purchase based on the erosion around and under the foundations.

With all the moisture, mold covers the entire underside of the floor beneath the family room.

To prevent the house structure from completely deteriorating, multiple significant repairs are needed to ensure their home is safe and secure. Both Rebecca and Jeff are working, but like most families, they're living paycheck to paycheck; there’s just no way to cover those costs.
