Help Save The Thompson Family Home!

Hello, My name is Chantelle and I am writing on behalf of Megan and Daniel Thompson and their 3 year old son Thomas of Dobie, Ontario.

HELP THE THOMPSON’S SAVE THEIR HOUSE!

In February 2025, Megan and Daniel had a bad leak. It started as a slow drip in the bathroom, so Megan called the insurance company, and they discovered the ice dam on the roof. The leak turned into a steady flow of water within the bathroom. It was not until insurance came in, approved the claim, and the insurance company started ripping out the walls that the extent of the damage was fully known to everyone involved. They ripped out all the drywall, insulation in all but 2 rooms, which included even the kitchen cabinets being removed. This being done, they discovered that water caused Black mold within the house's walls, ceilings, and floors.

The insurance then moved the family to an Air B&B (which the insurance was covering) and started tearing the house apart to repair the damage. This also included throwing some of the family’s possessions out, including most of the furniture.

Megan has been fighting and trying to find out what the steps were to be told that they were approved for some money back for living expenses, etc. (which they never received)

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the insurance company contacted Megan and told her that they were cancelling the insurance claim as they are now classifying it as a pre-existing issue. With them pulling the claim as being approved, this now means the family has a house that is far from being habitable, and as of

On May 25th, they will also have nowhere to live.

We have also included several pictures of the current condition of Megan and Daniel’s house, which will remain so until we figure out a plan.

I am writing to you to plead for any help you may be able to give this young family in their desperate time of need. Any amount of Financial help or even sharing this campaign! Any help would be appreciated!
