Save the Unión y Amparo Lodge #44 – A Historic Masonic Landmark for the World
A fraternal call from the heart of Puerto Rico to all Freemasons around the world.
The Unión y Amparo Lodge #44, located in Caguas, Puerto Rico, is more than just a building — it is a living symbol of our history, our principles, and our brotherhood.
This temple was built in 1923 by the renowned architect Antonin Nechodoma in a majestic Greek neoclassical style, a reflection of the grandeur and solemnity of Masonic work.
Its cultural and architectural value was officially recognized when it was listed in the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.
However, today, this historic monument is in a state of disrepair. Its columns still stand, but they need us now.
We are facing a historic opportunity: to acquire and restore this lodge, returning it to its former glory and transforming it into an International Masonic Center dedicated to heritage, education, culture, and service.
This campaign is open to all Freemasons, regardless of rite, obedience, or country — because this temple does not belong solely to Caguas, nor to Puerto Rico. It belongs to our universal brotherhood.
How Will Your Contribution Help?
️ Acquire the property before it is sold to outside interests.
️ Restore its structure, roof, columns, stained glass, and ceremonial halls.
Establish an International Masonic Cultural and Historical Center open to lodges worldwide.
Preserve the legacy of Nechodoma and Puerto Rican Freemasonry for future generations.
Why Help?
Because when a Lodge is lost, a piece of history dies.
Because Freemasonry is a living chain, and this is a link we cannot let fall.
Because together, we can prove that brotherhood is not just an ideal — it's action.
