This is Kathy and her two Grandchildren, Mason and Lily, they live down the street from us. We met Kathy at the bus stop on my oldest very first day of school, and we have been close ever since.
While getting to know Kathy and the kids, we found out that Kathy was not only juggling the children, but she also cared for her mother Miss Rosalie as well. Kathy had moved in with her mother to help take care of her when she started having health problems and just a few years later she had gotten a call to take custody of little Mason, and then Lilly about a year and half later.
It always amazed me how she kept up with the doctors appointments and all the kid’s activities, and still offered to lend a hand where ever she could.
When Miss Rosalie passed away this spring, everyone took it hard, especially the kids. They did not know a world without their G-Mom, and Kathi has done amazingly at guiding these babies through this tragic loss, while also trying to mourn her mother.
Unfortunately with Miss Rosalie’s passing the stability of their home is now in the air as the financial burden that Rosalie left Kathi with has been too much and they are now at risk of losing their family home. As hard as she tried to get all of their ducks in a row after her passing and make sure all of the proper things we taken care of via court ect.. just yesterday they had gotten a letter in the mail stating they are starting the foreclosure process.
We are hoping to raise enough money to stop the foreclosure process and get ahead of the missed payments so that the kids don’t lose the only safe place that they have ever known.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story and know that your donation is going to help keep this family in their home.
