Help Save Sol-Britt & Emma’s Home Following Loss of Husband

(See the first update for further details.)

My name is Emma and I have started this fundraiser in order to save my family home.
Due to the ongoing legal cases that my step-siblings have filed following my Dad’s passing, we now risk losing our home.

Unfortunately, since we haven’t been able to obtain definitive numbers I have had to calculate using the Estate Inventory Deeds document as a reference and this is was we need help raising money for:

Though the total of the things listed below would give us a total of 912332 Swedish Krona, (79445,83 EUR and 83305,06 US Dollars) I estimated that 600.000 Swedish Krona (52248,90 EUR and 54789,52 US Dollars) would be enough to both settle the inheritance and any unforeseen extra bills or invoices connected to the court cases.

We have no number for the legal fees for the first court case but the estimate is that currently, it is around 30000 Swedish Krona. ( 2611,30 Euro and 2708,93 US Dollars)
As mentioned above I used the Estate Inventory Deeds document as a reference and we would need around 500000 Swedish Krona (43517,50 EUR and 45149,82 US Dollars) to cover my step-sibling’s inheritance.
IF FUNDS ALLOW there is 382332 Swedish Krona (33279,13 EUR and 34525,26 US Dollars) left on the house mortgage.

(I converted the Swedish Krona into Euro and US dollar by googling Swedish Krona into Euro and US dollars.)

My Dad passed away suddenly here in our home in October 2023. It was a very traumatic experience for me and my Mom as we performed CPR until finally Emergency Responders arrived. However by then it was too late to save my Dad.

We didn’t meet the step-siblings until January 2024 at the meeting to finalize the details in the Estate Inventory Deeds document (Swe Bouppteckning). All present at the meeting agreed to the information and numbers that were stated and submitted.

Later in the spring 2024 following a routine check up, the doctors suspected my Mom of having cervical cancer (Swe livmoderhalscancer) and she was booked in for surgery in early June. Though the surgery went well, my Mom was ordered to not strain herself for at least a month. During this time, some of her front teeth fell out. We suspect a combination of genetics, medication and the stress of losing my Dad triggered this but the exact cause is not known.

We started applying for bank loans after the summer once my Mom’s health was better. Then we got the first letter from the local District Court (Swe tingsrätten) that my step-siblings wished to settle their inheritance. Since we are not experienced with legal matters, we ceased all activity and awaited instructions from the court.

A meeting was held on the 10th of December 2024. We agreed that once all the invoices for the estates expenses have been submitted and the definitive sum of money the inheritance was agreed on, we would try and reapply for bank loans. We were also instructed to apply for a special kind of deed that you apply for when the owner of a property has passed away in order to be able to handle the property. (Swe Dödsbolagfart) This was necessary since my Mom is not listed on the property deeds. We did this but unfortunately due to it being the end of the year, Lantmäteriet (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority.) was slow to process this application.

In early January 2025 we got a notice of rejection of the application from Lantmäteriet due to the inheritance not being settled. We also got notified of a second court case that one of the step-siblings had filed on the 25th of November 2024 due to being dissatisfied with the contents of the Estate Inventory Deeds document. We urgently sent the calculations for the estates expenses along with scanned PDF documents as proof to the mediator of the first case. However she had to cease all her activities if this second case was not dropped and if the second case would proceed, she would be forwarding her invoice.

The difference with the second case is that it would be handled by a Property Division Administrator (Swe Bodelningsman) and that person has the authority to sell our home and close Dad’s accounts.

Because of this I decided to ask for help since there is so much uncertainty.
I know times are hard but any help whether it be a donation or if you share the link,
is greatly appreciated.
