Help save our native fish.
Donation protected
Right now hypoxic black water is killing fish, crays and many underwater creatures in our region. They need your help.
We're raising funds to get aerators into rivers, creeks and lakes so they can breathe a little easier until the most deoxygenated flows pass through.
We are looking for funds to pay for fish-saving lifelines.
These include:
- new solar-powered aerators
- fixing old aerators and getting them working to provide refuge
- power and fuel for volunteers to pick and move aerators to the best spots
- coordination to get this fleet of aerators and mob of volunteers up and running together
If you've seen Murray Crays walking out of the water and struggling native fish you should know they are especially vulnerable to low oxygen water.
We won't save all of them but if we get these things cranking we will be doing our best to help them breed again.
$1700 will buy one commercial air-stone aerator which will help provide a localised oxygenated refuge.
We need a few of these given the scale of potential fishkill.
