Help Save Our Mom's Home From a Evil HOA

Hello all, we wanna start by thanking you for taking the time to read this <3.
Our Mother, Carrie, is an amazing woman and mother that has been fighting M.S (multiple sclerosissince) since 2016! And fighting HOA harassment and bullying since Early 2019. Here are some words from our Mother for more context to the HOA situation we have been dealing with for three years.
"My Home Owners Association (HOA) plans to make me houseless on 12/2/2022. They've blown up a debt of $800 to well over $24,000, and if I don't come up with $24,000 they will foreclose on my home and disenfranchise my sons.
Hi. I'm Carrie. For a little background, as a single mom, I worked full-time, went to school full-time, and homeschooled my sons through to college. I bought my home in 2011 and paid my HOA dues until a life tragedy struck.
In 2016, I had a terrible flare of Multiple Sclerosis (MS is a chronic disease where my immune system eats parts of my brain and spine). In March M.S damaged me so much I am permanently disabled. By 2019 I was behind on my HOA dues by $800.
Knowing my situation and cash poverty, the HOA preyed on me and used the $800 debt to place a lien then foreclose on my home. If I could afford an attorney, the HOA would have lost their case, but she didn't. So now with HOA attorney fees and court fees the amount “owed” is over $14,000.
Many past HOA members carried a lien on their homes. They just paid it off or they carried the lien until they sold their homes decades later. I am the first person in 30 years that our HOA held a unanimous vote to go after my home.
Only the 2019-2022 almost all white, wealthy, straight, able bodied, and very elderly board know why they decided to foreclose to collect their $800. I can only look at what was happening when they placed the first lien, and then refused my payment in full and instead started the case to foreclose. At the time, I was asking some questions about HOA expensive board purchases. I had also made two simple ADA requests for time to prepare for the monthly board meetings, which they ignored. I was also creating a social media type site for folx in the community to privately discuss neighborhood issues.
I don't know if the reasons they decided to sue to foreclose had anything to do with the malicious and ridiculous rumors that were started around that time. The rumors were focused on my sexuality, and that I have a room set aside for folx who get kicked out of their homes for being LGBTQ. The other rumors were straight-up racist (violent, baby daddies, drug dealing, etc.) towards me and my amazing Black children in a neighborhood where “attracting a more urban crowd” was a concern for neighbors when the HOA put a basketball court at the park. There were also ableist rumors and investigations that were proven wrong.
Because I couldn't afford a lawyer, the county, state, and federal courts did not protect my home or me. But I can stop my predatory HOA if I come up with $14,000 by the end of this month, November 2022.
My eldest son ( A amazing young black man ) is in the ARMY and has been serving for over four years now. And in that four years, he made 2nd Corporal and has been saving his money for his own home he has been dreaming of since college. With all his hard-earned savings, he has nearly enough to help this situation, but it is beyond unfair for my Black child to have to pay all his works savings because Old White people don't want us to be homed here.
It's taken me a long time to put this information out there. I feel strange asking for help when I am already in such a privileged position, owning a home that I can pass on to my kids. I feel weird about asking, but I feel even more uncomfortable with my sons losing their home, inheritance, and work savings to a small group of folx who apparently have nothing better to do than harass a disabled, single mother of Black children.
Every dollar will help. Every promotion on social media will help. Thank you so much for the read!
Carrie "
Some words from the kids. Our Mother worked so hard for our home! She homeschooled us each from four years old to our high school diplomas. While we were young, she was working two jobs while single to put food on our plates. She moved us to Olympia so that she could graduate from Evergreen State College, and graduate she did! With an English bachelor's degree, all while still homeschooling and at that time having to travel to Seattle for work. It took our Mother over seven years of penny-pinching and saving to afford our home!
Please share and boost to help our Mother with this very stressful time. Every cent is very much appreciated <3
