Carrie is the owner of a unique and historic haunted building in New Castle, PA. Her mother purchased the building in 2005, and after her mother passed, Carrie and her brother Greg took over its care. In 2016, Greg sadly passed away, leaving Carrie to carry on the responsibility of preserving the building and its legacy on her own. This year, the building celebrates its 100th anniversary—a milestone that highlights just how much history and character it holds. Over the years, the building has become a beloved spot for visitors and ghost hunters, drawing people from near and far who are fascinated by its stories and the spirits that may still linger within its walls.
Unfortunately, the roof over major parts of the building is now in serious disrepair. Without urgent repairs, large sections of this 80,000+ square foot landmark will become unusable, putting its future at risk. In 2017, Carrie completed two sizable roof projects on the building, making significant investments to preserve its structure, but the sheer size of the building makes it impossible to replace the entire roof at once. When the building was owned by the county and was in operation, the roof was maintained with just patch jobs and not sections of the damaged roof being replaced, and now the most damaged areas need immediate replacement to keep the building safe and open to the public.
Funds raised will go directly to hiring a local roofing company to repair the worst sections of the roof. Supporting local businesses is important to Carrie and her family, and these repairs will help ensure that the building remains a vibrant part of the community for years to come. We want to keep the spirit (and spirits) alive in this historic building, and with your help, we can preserve a piece of local history and keep this special place open for everyone to enjoy.
