Our Community Centre is going to be sold. Our small estate cannot afford to lose the resources or activities as we have nothing else.
No pub, no cafe other room to deliver what is needed.
We sit in the 10% most deprived areas and experience food poverty, fuel poverty, lack of employment opportunities, poor health statistics, lack of positive childhood experiences.
We create spaces that help with all these struggles.
We have been told that the building will be on the open market and listed at £450,000.
The centre runs and accommodates - children's activities, over 55 activities, a Free Clothes and Furniture Service. Food Pantry, Churches, Mens Group, Toy Drive, Youth Groups , Mental Health Support, Volunteer Opportunities. Summer Trips and Community Events, Warm Space/Welcome Places. We distribute Household Support Funding and have a Doctor's Surgery in the building.
How we will use the funding
We plan on applying to Community Asset the building giving us chance to raise funds to buy.
All money raised will go to purchase, surveyor and legal costs, promotion of campaign.
We will create a charity, fundraise and seek grants to help with the total costs andanage the funding and money raised.
If we are unsuccessful in purchasing the building we plan on building our own as this community cannot maintain good well being without us as agreed by - local Cllrs, housing and other charities in the area.
