Help Save Northern Lights Festival Boréal

For more than 50 years, Northern Lights Festival Boréal (NLFB) has been bringing music, artists, audiences, and community together in Sudbury. What began as a grassroots celebration of music has grown into one of Northern Ontario’s most important and beloved cultural events.

But today, NLFB is facing a critical challenge.

We need to raise $65,000 to keep the organization operating and ensure there can be a 2027 festival.

This is not simply about saving one weekend of music. It is about protecting an important part of Sudbury’s cultural identity and ensuring that local audiences, musicians, emerging artists, volunteers, and visitors continue to have a place to come together and celebrate the arts.

NLFB provides opportunities for artists to perform, supports emerging talent, contributes to the local economy, and creates a welcoming space where people of all ages can experience live music and community. The festival has become part of the fabric of Sudbury, and its impact extends well beyond the festival grounds.

However, the financial realities facing the organization have made it increasingly difficult to continue. Rising costs, changing funding landscapes, and the challenges of producing a major cultural event have put NLFB in a position where immediate community support is essential.

The $65,000 we need is a lifeline. It will allow NLFB to stabilize its operations, continue its work throughout the year, and begin planning for a 2027 festival.
