Help Me Save My Grandparent's House in Guadeloupe

Hi everybody, I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support in saving my grandparents’ house in Guadeloupe from being demolished by the government. My Grandparent’s House is a small, old fisherman’s house, located just 5 meters from the sea. It has survived hurricanes, floods, and time itself. Due to its prime location, the government plans to tear it down along with other local homes along the coast to make space for parking lots and tourist developments projects that will benefit mostly outsiders, not the local community.

This isn’t just about one house, it’s about the ongoing history of displacement and land-grabbing that continues today in Guadeloupe and the Other Colonised Islands of The Caribbean sea. For generations, the island’s land has been exploited by outsiders while the local people have been pushed aside exploited or forced off their own land. My grandparent’s house is one of the last pieces of my family’s heritage, and I’m fighting to preserve it before it’s lost forever.

After my grandfather passed away a few years ago, my family struggled with legal paperwork and the State putting Pressure with taxes. Now, it’s just my Mom and I fighting to keep the house and restore it to its former glory. The government’s plan to demolish it would be a loss not just for my family, but for the whole community has other Families are also fighting the same Fight in the area.

We need help to:

. Pay the overdue property taxes

. Finalize the legal process to reclaim ownership of the house

. Begin restoring and preserving our heritage

Every contribution , big or small, makes a huge difference.

This is deeply personal for me, but it’s also an act of resistance in honor of the Guadeloupean heritage and Our history.
