Help Save My Elderly Parents From Losing Their Home After 15 Years.

Hello, my name is Lee, and I’m asking for your help to stop my elderly and vulnerable parents from being made homeless by the very people they trusted — a Catholic Church they’ve rented from for over 15 years.

They’ve paid over £300,000 in rent since 2008 — always on time, never asking for much. The home they live in was left to the Church by a generous patron who passed away, likely with the intent that it be used to shelter those in need. The Church has had no mortgage and minimal maintenance costs, as my parents lovingly cared for the house themselves.

Now, that same Church is choosing to sell the property out from under them — for profit — and has issued them with an eviction notice, with no plan to rehouse them.

A History of Struggle and Survival

In 2015, I visited my parents and my mum asked me to fix her phone. While checking her photos, I found an image I’ll never forget — her face bruised, her nose broken, both eyes blackened.

I asked her what happened. She told me they had been violently burgled on New Year’s Day. They had gone out to get a newspaper, only to return and find two men robbing their home. One of them punched my mum in the face. The other struck my dad with a gun, demanding the car keys to move their car and escape.

Despite the burglars leaving fingerprints, the police closed the case just two days later.

I immediately gave up my rented flat and moved back in with them. I installed security cameras, floodlights, fencing — anything I could to protect them.
Then Life Changed Again…

A couple of years later, I moved to Spain to be with my partner Emma, and we began planning our future and our wedding.

But just six months after moving, Emma was diagnosed with cancer. I returned to the UK heartbroken, needing to work and support her care from afar. I moved back in with my parents to get back on my feet quickly.

On my second day back, my mum asked if I was expecting anyone. A strange car was parked in the drive.

I went outside and found three men stealing my dad’s tools from the barn. I saw red — the thought of my mum going through another burglary was unbearable. I stopped them and defended our home. Once again, the police failed to act, and even warned me not to take matters into my own hands.
⛪️ And Now… The Final Blow

Recently, the Church opened up parts of the garden fenceline, making the property vulnerable again. Then came the eviction notice.

My mum now suffers from dementia, and both of my parents have had major joint replacements — hips, knees — they are physically vulnerable and in declining health.

They had planned to live out the rest of their lives in peace in the home they cared for, paid for, and protected. But now, they face being made homeless, discarded by an institution that was gifted this house by someone who believed in giving.
