I'm reaching out with a heavy heart during one of the most difficult times of my life. My sweet cat, Milo, has been with me since he was just five weeks old—he'll be 12 this August. He is not just a pet; he is my companion, my comfort, and truly my best friend.
On Thursday and Friday, Milo was misdiagnosed and treated as if he had asthma. I spent an additional $300 on steroids and inhalers that I can no longer use since we now know his condition is heart-related. The medication he was given worsened his health, causing severe inflammation in his heart; his lungs filled with fluids. By early Saturday morning, he could barely breathe, and I almost had to say goodbye.
Thankfully, we rushed him to an emergency hospital just in time. He was diagnosed with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). The specialists worked tirelessly to stabilize him, and today, he is finally home with me. However, his doctor warned me that the type of life-threatening episode he had on Saturday morning is very possible to happen again.
Milo is now on several medications and will need frequent checkups to manage this condition. The emergency care that saved his life totaled $3,922, which I am now working to pay off. He also urgently needs an echocardiogram with a veterinary cardiologist to guide his treatment plan. This test alone is estimated to cost $500–$1,200, and the costs of ongoing care will continue to add up.
I am committed to giving Milo the best chance at a longer, happier life, but I cannot do this alone. Any support—whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser—will help me continue fighting for more time with him.
