Save Madison Central Park movement is raising funds to support the neighborhood community working to protect a park that is more than just open space—it is part of the heart of the community. For years, this park has been a place where neighbors walk, children play, families gather, dogs run, and the community comes together. It is a shared green space that contributes to the character and quality of life of the entire neighborhood. Now, the future of the park is at risk. Plans are moving forward that could significantly change how this public space is used and permanently alter the park the neighborhood has helped create, care for, and enjoy.

These plans include the construction of up to 3 baseball/softball fields, batting cages, concessions, an equipment room, and potentially more. These fields would be used 6 days a week in both the spring and fall.

Many nearby residents have serious concerns about the impact of these changes and, just as importantly, about whether the community has been given a meaningful opportunity to understand the plans and have a voice in the process.

This effort is not about opposing recreation or opportunities for children. It is about protecting shared public green space, demanding a transparent process, understanding the full impact of permanent changes, and ensuring that neighborhood residents have a meaningful seat at the table.

Funds from this fundraiser will go towards marketing materials like yard signs, fliers, a website, and QR codes to help raise awareness, and any remainder will go towards a community event in the park. Every contribution helps. Even if someone cannot donate, sharing this fundraiser with neighbors, friends, local organizations, and others who believe communities deserve a voice in decisions about their public spaces can make a tremendous difference.

Once public green space is permanently changed, it can be extremely difficult—if not impossible—to get it back.
