Help save Doug the Motorhome

Hi, I'm Maddie and for the past 18 months I've been helping and supporting my partner Andy aka Anders crafts travelling to festivals and selling our wares, we travel with Andy's old but beloved motorhome Doug, a 1987 Talbot talisman which he's had for 2 years and put a lot of love and money into over that time.

In the summer last year at Llangollen fairy festival, another trader left their very heavy gazebo not pegged down on a windy day and walked off leaving it unattended, the gazebo tore through another gazebo. Our friends camping tent and hit Doug, doing damage to the metal under the windscreen and also knocking the windscreen out of its seal, it was fortunate Andy saw the gazebo flying across the field and managed to grab it just before it smashed the window too, lots of people came to aid but ultimately the fault lied with the other trader and insurance details were given.

Since then Andy and our friends have had nothing but problems with the insurance company, and even though Andy was quick to send off the details, the company didn't reply until November asking for more details.

As you may know Andy struggles a lot with his physical and mental health and it's caused us so much stress the last few months trying to get this all sorted, and try to plan what to do for the festival year ahead but being stuck in limbo not knowing what's going to happen with Doug has really not helped.

Andy has done his best to get quotes and prices to get the damaged repaired and it's between £1000-1200 as the whole window needs to come out and lots of welding doing and he would have to take Doug to either stoke or derby to get it done.

It's now January and they have finally made an offer of only £300 to write off Doug and that's all the value they say it's worth.

We have had a lot of happy memories in Doug the last 18 months and without him (and Andy) I certainly wouldn't have been able to start my own business too which is slowly growing andwe wouldn't be able to attend the festivals we have and met wonderful friends and extended family in the community. This year we were hoping to go to even more but with the threat of losing Doug completely we are stuck in limbo.

So this is a plea to all of our friends and family to see if you can support us in any way, even a donation of £1 or sharing this funder would be a great help. Andy was reluctant to me setting this up, as if you know him like I do, he's stubborn, proud and doesn't like to ask for help. So I am.
