We are raising funds to help protect Civic Center Park against the plan to build a new police headquarters and jail there.

Most residents do not know how far this proposal has advanced or how deeply it will affect our city.

It should be on the ballot for voters — not slipped through by a small committee, while residents remain unaware until it’s too late. Newport Beach residents deserve a voice in such a costly and impactful project in our city.

The City Council is pushing this project forward, despite strong community opposition, limited transparency, and serious unanswered questions — namely why the purchased site at 1201 Dove Street is no longer being meaningfully considered. The park site will cost over $50 million more than building at Dove Street.

The current station on Santa Barbara Drive is planned for sale, along with the fire station next door, to build 300 foot high rise apartments — including 15-20% affordable housing.

We need police and parks. We don’t have to sacrifice one for the other, and we don’t need more high rise housing crammed into Fashion Island.

The funds raised will go toward practical community action: lawn signs, flyers, and outreach to spread awareness — as well as possibly legal support from environmental or municipal law attorneys.
