Hi my name is Melissa Jones and I will introduce myself after but I want to talk about BOGLIN first...
BOGLIN is the MOST AMAZING DOG EVER!! For the first 4 years of his life he suffered the worst abuse imaginable! Now a member of our family, he is living his BEST, LOVED LIFE that he TRULY DESERVES!! PLEASE HELP US to raise the money he needs to live the life that he should be living.. Not to die when he's finally free and unconditionally loved!
Born into a puppy mill in China, he spent his first 4 years in a tiny cage, then he was sold to a Slaughter House where he would be eaten as food. His hind legs didn't fully develop due to his confinement, he was severely starved (which took us over a year to train him not to eat his own feces since that was his main food source), and he endured many more injuries during his time there... His most obvious injury is his two mangled ears, the vet said he was most likely attacked by other dogs but they don't tend to their injuries as they sell them to Slaughter houses as food when they're done. The worst injury he endured at the puppy mill was his throat! When they're puppies the workers shove pipes down their throats to damage as much as possible so they can no longer bark or make any noise during their stay.
September 14th 2022 I picked up BOGLIN from YVR cargo bay, he was in the last group of permitted dogs allowed to enter Canada from China. A friend I've known for 25yrs who volunteers for The Pug Queen messaged asking if I'd foster or potentially adopt "Luke", as he was originally named. She knew that i always adopted the "unadoptable" animals and apparently BOGLIN was too ugly and mangled so no one wanted him. For me, it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
Earlier this year we needed to get his teeth cleaned but due to his breathing we got referred to a clinic in North Van where they can zoom call the number one anesthesiologist in Canada to talk them thru his procedure. However we needed a blood test and chest X-rays first from our vet to send off. We got some sedation tablets to give BOGLIN 2 hours before his appointment, they worked great (or so we thought) as he was too high to pee. Luckily they were able to get both tests done. Unfortunately due to the stress BOGLIN stopped breathing, his tongue turned black and they had to give him oxygen... This is the problem, if he gets too stressed with all the damage to his throat he can stop breathing at anytime and could die.
We are hoping to raise $30,000.00... this is for 2 separate surgeries ($15,000 each) including the worst case scenarios and recovery.
We found a small cancerous tumour (so far, self-contained) around his cheek/ jawbone (tech terms: a neuroendocrine tumor such as a carotid body tumor located behind the left carotid artery adjacent to the mandibular salivary gland). This will cause severe swelling which could be fatal in his recovery due to his breathing issues.
The 1st surgery is to correct his breathing by removing all the forced damage & scare tissue in his throat and navel cavity. The 2nd surgery will be to remove the tumour.
The estimate of each surgery is $15,000. Each individual surgery will cost $7000+ and he will need to stay overnight for a minimum of 3 to 5 nights. The anesthetic can cause severe acid reflex so during his recovery they may need a vet to sit next to him for 24hrs to make sure when something comes up that it goes back down the right tube, if not he will die. The cost of his overnights will start at $300/night upto $1000/night if the vet stays with him, adding upto $5000. During the surgeries and his recoveries there may be unforeseen issues, as well as his post surgery visits (including his additional CT scans & x-rays), alloting $3000 to cover the rest per surgery.
No donation is too small, if 30,000 people donated $1 our goal is met!! Every bit helps, and your support will make a world of difference in BOGLIN's fight to survive and recover. If you’re unable to contribute financially, PLEASE SHARE this campaign with others. The more people we reach, the better chance BOGLIN has at living!!
We've already spent thousands of dollars to get to this point finding the tumour and on other breathing related issues. For these reasons, we really need your help with raising the $30,000 for BOGLIN.
I've held 2 Sunday's garage sales so far, selling as much as I can (clothes, shoes, household items, anything and everything) including a lemonade & Ice Tea stand...as a adult, haha. Friends have helped each time, with support and by selling stuff they're willing to part with. We will continue but will not even make a dent in the actual amount we need!
I HATE asking for money but we need to have the 1st surgery before the end of the year, hoping for this fall. The tumor is growing each day which will make it's removal more dangerous and more life threatening, as well as the recovery!
Thank you for taking the time to read BOGLIN's story. Your generosity and support are greatly appreciated during this critical time. Please keep BOGLIN in your thoughts, and share this campaign with anyone who may be able to help, whether financially or just continuing to share his story. We need to reach as many people as possible and I know we can!!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
My name is Melissa Jones and I'm a mom of the best adopted and blended family. I'm a person who doesn't ask for help but I have no choice, so I'm pleading to everyone to help save my family. BOGLIN is my version of my child and I can't image a life where he's taken too early. He is just pure love and he deserves his time here to share it with everyone!
*With much love and appreciation thanks again, Melissa Jones, (with his full name) BOGLIN LunchMeat Dunning-Jones (the 1st)
