Help Save Bakersfield's Experience Dance Studio

Help save a part of Kern County History! Experience Dance Studio is in need of Kern County’s help. Like most businesses, we have been affected by the global pandemic and are hoping to raise $15,000 to keep Experience Dance Studio’s doors open to cover our daily expenses that include rent and utilities. We are thankful for any donation amount you are able to give. Any supporter who donates $100 will become a Patron of Experience Dance Studio and have their name featured on a plaque within the studio. Dance is Powerful. It’s essential to keep Experience Dance Studio open, as it has a long history within Kern County while providing a safe place for anyone who loves dance to express themselves.

Save Experience Dance Studio while preserving Bakersfield’s history. What used to be the yellow house on the corner of 18th and C Street,  Du Fresne Dance Arts, Lenore Smith Dance Arts, Janie Kennedy Performing Arts, and now Experience Dance Studio run by Marvin Ramey is in need of our community's help.  Experience Dance Studio is reaching out to Kern County to help keep one of Bakersfield's long standing buildings as a dance studio for over 70 years, open. This building has experienced joy, pain, laughter, and tears. It has hosted many rehearsals for our community theatres, high schools, plays, master classes, and even a wedding ceremony. In today's climate, it's more important than ever to keep Experience Dance Studio open to ensure that every generation has access to dance to give them an outlet where they can move and express themselves through dancing. This is something that is being lost during this pandemic and is worth saving within the Kern County Community. 


For the past 30 years, Marvin Ramey, the owner of Experience Dance Studio, has dedicated his life to helping build a solid foundation for dance that has allowed numerous generations of students to flourish within the Bakersfield Fine Arts Community. Marvin’s love for dance and his community extends beyond the walls of  Experience Dance studio. Over the years he has choreographed countless musical productions at various Kern High School campuses and local community theaters to ensure that everyone within the Bakersfield community has access to the love of dance. Over the years, many of his former students have brought their children back to  Experience Dance to start their journey with dance in the same studio where their’s began. His mark can be felt in the Bakersfield fine arts community where many of his former students have become dance or theater teachers and continue to direct or perform in local theater. He has served as the coach for the Bakersfield College Cheerleader Squad. Marvin has even helped coach 3 Guinness World Records titles! Marvin has taught Cheerleaders throughout the Western USA for United Spirit Association and has performed for the Super Bowl XIX pre-game show. Yearly,  Experience Dance hosts a Christmas Show for donations for “Toys for Tots.” The impact that Marvin Ramey’s  Experience Dance has had on the Bakersfield Community is priceless and irreplaceable.


On Saturday, February 6, 2021 Experience Dance Studio will be hosting a COVID-SAFE 

12-hour dance marathon from 12:00 PM to 12:00 AM to showcase and help raise funds to keep the doors of Experience Dance Studio open. The 12 hour marathon will be live streamed on Experience Dance's Facebook page.  Will be auctioning costumes from past shows, studio shirts, and bags. By saving Experience Dance Studio you are helping preserve a part of Bakersfield's History while ensuring that many more generations will have access to the art of dance.
