Hello, my name is Edgar Tokhyan, and I am the father of Alvina, a sweet and brave 7-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with a brainstem tumor — a mass in the pons (pons Varolii) of the brain, which is responsible for vital functions like breathing, heartbeat, and movement.

Diagnosis: Brain Tumor in the Pons (Brainstem Glioma)

A few weeks ago, our lives changed forever. Alvina started experiencing unusual symptoms — unsteady walking, eye problems, and fatigue. After extensive medical exams and an MRI, doctors found a mass in her brainstem, an area that cannot be operated on safely. The official diagnosis is a brain tumor of uncertain behavior (ICD-10 code D43.1), requiring urgent treatment abroad.

The Cost of Hope

The initial cost for Alvina’s treatment, including diagnostics, radiation, and specialized therapy, is $122,708 USD. Unfortunately, this amount is far beyond what our family can afford. Every day matters, and any delay could cost us precious time.
