A drunk driver changed our little family forever! I don’t know exactly how I’m going to do it, but I will find a way!! If I go broke making a change, it’ll be worth it as long as I can save someone from a tragedy like ours. The guy who ran a red light was drunk; he stumbled out of his truck and ran away while my little girls Savannah & Bella were screaming for help. He was later caught, and this is his 5th DUI! 5th DUI!! My little girls did not deserve this; no victim deserves this.

A little story about Savannah’s huge heart. Last school year, I picked her up after school as usual, but this time she walked up to the car with a bothered and sad look, shoulders kind of rolled forward. I immediately knew something was wrong. We gave each other a hug and a kiss, buckled up, and drove away from the school. Down the street, I saw a shade under a tree, so I pulled over and parked. As soon as I turned around to face her, she started crying and told me how sad it was seeing a schoolmate crying by herself because she’s hungry. She told me the little girl was in foster care because her parents passed away. She goes on and continues to tell me how she doesn’t get fed breakfast or lunch, only dinner. How she’s expected to eat at school although she gets dropped off after breakfast has ended. Before I could even offer to pack a second lunch for her, Savannah asked me if she could use her allowance money to buy snacks and take them to the counselor's office so her schoolmates who are hungry can go and get it if they want. I talked to the school, and they said it was okay; they agreed. Savannah wanted to remain confidential and receive no special treatment from anyone; she just wanted to help. And she did. For the entire school year, she used her allowance money every single week and delivered grocery bags full of snacks that went directly to any student who asked, no questions asked.

And I’m sure my kids aren’t the only victims of drunk driving, but now that it hit close to home and I see all the lives that are impacted, it makes my soul hurt. I have to find a way to stop drunks before they get behind that wheel, I just have to! I don’t know exactly how, but I have to!! For all the families that have fallen victim and the ones that might be, I hope I can prevent it. ❤️
