After much encouragement from friends and acquaintances, we are starting this GoFundMe to help relieve some of the financial stress our parents, Michael and Sasha, are facing.

In March of 2024, our Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colorectal cancer — a recurrence of the cancer he had beaten in 2023. Despite immediate treatment and his unwavering positivity, the cancer progressed. In June of 2025, our family made the heartbreaking decision to stop treatment. He entered hospice in July. This month, he was hospitalized with a painful bowel obstruction. He’s endured a week of treatment to manage his symptoms, and will soon be discharged home — to the house he built, the family who loves him, and his loyal cat, Grayson.

The past year and a half has caused a great emotional and financial strain. Our Mom has taken unpaid time off to care for Dad, and will soon have to pay for their health insurance out of pocket. Friends, neighbors, and coworkers have been incredible—her colleagues even donated their own PTO after she used hers.

The funds raised will go directly toward medical bills, insurance premiums, utilities, groceries, and eventually a Celebration of Life. Once Dad passes, Mom will not only lose her husband of nearly 39!! years, but also his disability income. The support through the GoFundMe will help our family grieve without the crushing worry of finances.

Our Dad’s greatest joy is his family, especially his seven grandchildren. He is the heart of the Tinning family, and we love him deeply. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness and generosity during the hardest time of our lives.
