Help Saren Master the Stairs
Donation protected
My sister, Saren Thorne-Hauser, has Pulmonary Fibrosis – an incurable, terminal lung disease. Diagnosed in December of 2010, she is beating the odds for life expectancy. However, the illness always advances. Now, Saren needs a Stair Lift in her home to continue her battle and push back the time for hospice care. Alas, Medicare DOES NOT cover stair lifts!
Only 15 months ago, Saren was independent and strong enough to participate as a model in an art photography show mounted by Northern Illinois University called “Belonging in DeKalb”.

Many know Saren for her artistic efforts such as the hauntingly beautiful “Styx Boat” installation – a Chicago Art Grant project that ultimately stopped traffic (literally) hanging from a railroad overpass.
And then there’s “Rain Kite” aka “Tears for My Brother” – a dedication to me for my time in Viet Nam.
Some know Saren as the self-proclaimed “Foodist” who offered dinner guests the delights of her gourmet cooking hobby! She ‘entertained’ in her tiny Japanese garden back then. Those days are over. Even window box gardening is a big effort. Now, her every breathe is a challenge.
Saren is on oxygen 24/7 at an ever-increasing level.

Your donation will help Saren to continue to live in her home and “master her stairs”!
