Sarah Hayes Anderson and her husband Eric Anderson experienced a devastating house fire early Monday morning on May 11th. Around 2 AM, they were woken by the sound of their back window and sliding glass door blowing out. Acting quickly, they managed to get their two dogs to safety, and firefighters rescued their cat. Both Sarah and Eric were taken to the hospital, where Eric, who has asthma, was intubated and spent time in the ICU due to severe smoke inhalation.
This home holds a special place in Sarah’s heart. She and her first husband purchased it together, but she lost him shortly after to an unexpected diagnosis of colon cancer. Despite that heartbreak, Sarah rebuilt her life with Eric by her side and found hope again. Now, with her home destroyed by fire, she faces another unimaginable challenge.
The fire destroyed much of their home and belongings, and the house also sustained moderate water damage. Initial estimates suggest it will take at least a year before their home is livable again. In addition to rebuilding, they face the challenge of caring for their pets and covering medical bills. The funds raised will help them replace what was lost, support their pets’ needs, and cover medical expenses during this difficult time.
Sarah and Eric are generous, hardworking members of the community. Sarah gives her all running a non-profit that brings free and low-cost dental care to thousands of children across SE Minnesota, making a real difference for families who might not otherwise have access. Now, they need our help. Please support this family in their time of need and help them rebuild their lives.
