Help Sarah and Lucas Rebuild After Devastating Fire

Hey everyone. For those who don't know me, my name is Shellby Hamson (Matullo), though this story and GoFundMe is not about me. This story is about my sister Sarah and her sweet babe Lucas.

Roughly two weeks ago, their entire life was turned upside down when a fire broke loose in the apartment building that they live in. To be more exact, the fire took place in the unit directly above theirs, resulting in what would be deemed later by the Red Cross as a complete "displacement" situation. The fire, smoke, water, and mold damage was relentless, undeniably removing Sarah and Lucas from their home, and taking away all of their belongings from their furniture to their clothes and toys, family heirlooms, and everything in between. Through by the grace of God, they were both physically okay.

The night of the fire, Sarah was the first of her building to wake up. When she witnessed an apartment full of smoke, saw flames blazing through the window above her, and realized what was happening, she grabbed Lucas and sprinted out the door. Though instead of grabbing anything else she owned, she instead ran throughout the building banging on doors, waking neighbors, ushering people out of their homes to safety, and calling 911.

Sarah didn't think twice about anything other than saving her son, and helping all others in that moment, but honestly, that's kind of her M.O. She'd be the first to give a stranger the shirt off her back to help them in times of need or crisis, and I'm hopeful that now, in this time of crisis in her and her son's life, we can band together as a community of friends and family to help Sarah and Lucas in whatever way your heart is called.

Whether through a monetary donation to this GoFundMe, or sending prayers, kind thoughts, or positive, healing energy to them, I know that helping in whatever way your hearts are called would go such a long way and would be met with so much overwhelming gratitude.
