On my show, she shared her harrowing story of escaping a violent stalker and her uphill battle to get help from the very organizations meant to protect survivors. They have all failed her.

For six years, Sara has fought for her and her daughter’s safety, all while navigating a broken system that has left her without legal representation. I’ve sat through court hearings, helpless, as the defense attorney for her abuser distorts the truth—unchallenged—because Sara cannot afford a lawyer.

She has reached out to countless legal aid groups, spoken on news shows and podcasts, and tried everything to raise funds for legal help. Still, no one has stepped up.

This Summer: A Critical Moment

Sara and I are planning to meet up this summer so she and her daughter can finally find safety. We will be traveling out of state to look at relocation options for them. Then, when the trial begins in June/July, I will be by Sara’s side in court—to support her in person, every step of the way.
