This is Santiago, a very strong, smart, and kind 16-year-old boy. He was in a horrible accident yesterday and was transported by ambulance to the trauma center. He will be in the pediatric intensive care for the next couple of days for observation before they schedule his surgery.

Santiago is such a generous, sweet, funny, hardworking, and caring person. He has been in JROTC in his high school since freshman year. He gets very good grades and is very responsible, but of course, like every teenage boy, his room is usually messy, and he loves having his friends over. They are all really good kids that never get into any kind of trouble, which is why this whole situation is extremely devastating and painful for the whole family.

Santiago is very lucky to have so many people that love and care for him, but unfortunately, all the love in the world does not help us in this situation. It does help a lot when it comes to the support that keeps us as a family strong through this horrible experience. Medical bills will not be fully covered by insurance, and monthly bills will keep piling up while income will be on hold because I do not receive benefits at work, and his mom just started a new job, so benefits are still not available.
