Help San Diego Afghan Refugee Family
Donation protected
I volunteer for a local group here in San Diego that helps newly arrived refugees. Many of the families are from Afghanistan. One of our Afghan families has suffered unimaginable loss and are now behind in their rent as a result. I'm reaching out here to see if you can either share or donate to help get them back on their feet. If you are local and can drop off needed items on the list please reach out and I can put you in touch.
Their 15 year old son passed away tragically on Christmas Day from a pulmonary embolism. He had just returned Christmas Eve from a visit to Afghanistan and it's believed he developed a blood clot on the long flight. The following day (Christmas Day) he suffered a violent seizure and went into cardiac arrest. He was rushed to Grossmont Hospital but, sadly, they were not able to save him. The parents of the 15-year old boy came to ask for help paying their rent this month. The dad, Aminullah, just returned from Afghanistan after accompanying his son's body back home to bury him in their family cemetery. Dad went back to work yesterday, but because he has been on unpaid Family Leave since Christmas he will not be able to make his next rent payment which is due next week. We want to raise $1,550 to help this wonderful family. The dad is hardworking and was even helping other families before this tragedy struck. We helped him get a job after the family arrived from Afghanistan last year (the same job he still has) and his boss even sent us a letter a few weeks after he started working there to tell us what an amazing employee Aminullah is and he wished he had ten more like him. There is no family more deserving than this one and I am heartsick over what they have been through.
Please share this with anyone willing to help this poor family in need. If you’d rather send a check, you can make it payable to: No One Left Behind and mail to 3705 28th St., San Diego, CA 92104.
A donation receipt will be provided.
Thank you!
