Help Sammy Overcome Acute Myeloid Leukemia

Hello everyone! my name is Maria Avila mother to a brave amazing 11 year old boy, My family joined with my baby Sammy Tafoya Avila are fighting Acute myeloid leukemia.(AML)

Sammy was diagnosed with AML on June 20,2024, a day that changed our lives forever. Before his diagnosis Sammy was a vibrant, funny, athletic child who loved nothing more than playing football and baseball with his friends for the school team. He also enjoyed unwinding with video games, like many kids his age. Tragically, Sammy and his siblings lost their father two years ago, leaving me to care for him and his two siblings on my own. Now, with Sammy's diagnosis, we are facing an enormous challenge, both emotionally and financially.

AML treatment requires Sammy to be admitted to the hospital for extended periods, typically 4 to 6 weeks at a time. This long term hospitalization not only takes a toll on Sammy's spirit but also places a significant financial burden for us. I have been struggling to balance work, and caring for Sammy's siblings, and being there for Sammy during his treatment.

We are asking for prayers and any help. I was hesitant to ask for help, as I always managed to provide for my kids. However, faced with Sammy's diagnosis and the overwhelming challenges it brings, I realize that I truly need help during this difficult time.
