Help Samer Rebuild His Life After Losing Everything
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jess, I live in Oregon, and I am fundraising for my good friend Samer who lives in central Gaza and has been surviving nearly 600 days of a war and genocide. We have created this fundraiser in order for Samer to provide his family with basic necessities and if possible, leave to a safer place. I'd also like to point out that Samer has made it 19 months with no help from the outside world. He deserves all the support he can get.
Here is Samer's story in his own words:
My name is Samer, I’m 22 years old, and I was born and raised in Shuja’iyya, one of the oldest and most devastated neighborhoods in Gaza City. I’m a student at Al-Azhar University, studying Accounting, or at least I was—until the war changed everything.

On October 7, our lives were shattered. What began as another day quickly turned into the beginning of the end of what we once thought was normal. The Israeli airstrikes destroyed our home during the first wave of bombings. But even before that, life was already a struggle.

We fled from Gaza City to Deir al-Balah, where we found temporary shelter in the home of a family friend. We hoped it would be a safe place—but the days dragged on, and conditions worsened. Eventually, we had no choice but to move again, this time to Al-Mawasi in western Khan Younis. Life there was no easier.
After some time, we returned to Deir al-Balah—but nothing was the same. Our house was gone. So were our memories, our belongings, and the lives we once knew. Today, my family and I live in a tent made of nylon, under the open sky, facing storms, heat, and unbearable conditions. There is no electricity, no clean water, and barely enough food to survive. Whatever food is available is often too expensive for us to afford.

It’s been nearly two years of displacement, pain, and loss. We’ve lost our home, our relatives, our friends, and our neighbors. So many lives have been taken—this has been nothing short of a massacre.
But despite everything, we are still here. We are alive. And we refuse to lose our will to live.
Today, I’m humbly asking for your help—not just for me, but for my family. We’re seeking support to rebuild a small part of what we lost: to find a safer shelter, to access basic necessities like food, water, and clothing, and to continue my education, which was cut short by war.
Anything you can give will make a difference—no matter how small. Your support can help us survive, heal, and, one day, rebuild.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
